Lagos is one of the fastest growing mega-cities in the world, with a population of over 20million. Lagos State itself is blessed with large bodies of water, wetlands, wide lagoons and creeks intertwined in the landmass.
However this natural endowment has not been sufficiently exploited for the carriage of goods and passengers within the State and within Nigeria.
Mr Oluwadamilola Emmanuel, the Managing Director, Lagos State Waterways Authority (LASWA), will on Thursday, the 26th of March 2020, share his vision for an integrated water transportation system driven by technology, efficiency, and international best practices at the Maritime Business Round-Table Breakfast meeting.
The Business Round-Table Breakfast Meeting, which is Scheduled to hold in Lagos, at the Oriental Hotel, Victoria Island, will address issues bothering maritime operations in Lagos state.
The convener of the Maritime Business Round-Table Breakfast Meeting, Oritsemotosan Edodo – Emore; said with the recent, enforcement of the Lagos State Traffic Reform Law of 2012, which curbed the operations of commercial tricycles and motorbikes on major roads in the metropolis, additional pressure has been laid on road as the major means of transportation in the State.
This has thrust water transportation into the spotlight as a natural and viable alternative to road transportation. Participants should register, by sending an email to zoemaritime@gmail.com.
