Lekki Deep Sea Port to begin test operation in Sept, says NPA

The Lekki Deep Sea Port will commence test operations by September, the Managing Director of the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), Mr Mohammed Bello-Koko has said.

Bello-Koko disclosed this during a courtesy call on the Lagos State Governor Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu at the Lagos House, Marina, on Tuesday.

Bello-Koko also took time to implore the state government to accelerate work on the port access road saying that the road would make further assist the NPA operationalize the port processes and prevent the same gridlock that has made a mess of the Apapa Port area.

He commended the state government for its pro-activeness.

Responding, Governor Sanwo-Olu said the state government is constructing an 18kms rigid concrete road between Lekki and Epe and the road would be delivered in April.

“We are committed to road infrastructure and a rigid concrete road, the same type that you find currently in Apapa is ongoing and would be completed and delivered next month or so. This we are sure would help improve access on that road,” Sanwo-Olu said.

The Governor said the government would continue to partner with the NPA in the overall interest of the people of the state.
