Makinde tasks constituents on protection of available infrastructures

Hon. Rasheed Makinde has counseled constituents on the need to own the various developmental projects of the government within Ifako Ijaiye II constituency.

The lawmaker who was reelected for a second term as a member of the Lagos State House of Assembly,representing Ifako Ijaiye II charged the constituents on the need to take good care of various infrastructural projects afforded by government.

He made this assertion while speaking at a special get together organized to appreciate constituents, All Progressives Congress (APC) party faithfuls and stakeholders and to commemorate his second term inauguration at Anwarulll-Islam Girls College,Ahmadiyah,Ojokoro,Lagos.

 Makinde however, urged the new Lagos State Governor, Mr.Babajide Sanwo-Olu to double effort targeted at ensuring Ifako Ijaiye II constituents enjoy dividend of democracy in the  area of providing more infrastructure.

The lawmaker commended all stakeholders who laboured for APC’s victory in 2019 elections, advised residents to take ownership of public infrastructure and protect them.

According to him,  the constituency secures a total votes of 27, 333 for APC in 2019 polls, which is adjudged the highest for state assembly elections in Southwest.

 Makinde reaffirmed his commitment to service and poise to always respect the electorates, for entrusting his with their mandate,promising that he would continue to carry stakeholders along in his efforts toward bringing development to the area.

He also states his resolve to forge ahead on path of greatness and urged all hands to be on deck to improve the standard of living of constituents.

 Makinde thanked the National Leader of APC, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, Ex-Gov. Rauf Aregbesola of Osun, the Speaker, Lagos State House of Assembly, Hon. Mudashiru Obasa, Sen. Bayo Osinowo among others for support.

He said: “The first-term of four years has ended, another term of four years is a week old today. Time wait for nobody, politics is over, its now time for governance.

“Either you voted for me or not, let us join hands together for the development of our constituency. 

“Our yearly town hall meeting will continue and I urge you to always turn out in large numbers for the gathering and come up with not only requests but also proffer suggestions and solutions to various challenges facing our constituency.

“I urge us all to take the ownership of various government projects in our locality and ensure they stand the test of time.”

He urged constituents to play down on personal requests but concentrate on things that would benefit majority of the residents.

In an attempt to give back to the constituents, Makinde doles out empowerment kits and grants to 150 widows, six constituents also got receipts of fully paid plots of land,while 21 dignitaries were given awards for various life transforming influence which had great impact on the development of the constituency.

The maiden edition of Newsherald magazine was also launched,to highlight the achievements of the lawmaker in his first term.

Also speaking, Mr Hammed Tijani, the Executive Chairman, Ojokoro LCDA, who commended residents for voting APC massively in the 2019 elections, urged them to be law abiding and perform their civic responsibilities to take the council to the next level.

Asked of his expectations from the state government, Tijani urged Gov. Babajide Sanwo-Olu to give attention to road infrastructure, youths employment and empowerment, provision of secondary schools to reduce distance students travel to access education.

“In our area, we need road infrastructure. Without roads, economic development will be difficult. We want the government to pay attention to this and our youths,” Tijani said
