SUNRISE NEWS, Ado-Ekiti, Aug. 27, 2020 A 22-year-old man, Moses Abel, on Thursday appeared before an Ado-Ekiti Magistrates’ Court charged with stealing a motorcycle.
Abel, whose address was not given, is facing a one-count charge of stealing.
The prosecutor, Mr Olobu Apata, told the court that the defendant and others at large, committed the alleged offence on June 1, at Dalimore area in Ado-Ekiti.
He alleged that the defendant and his accomplices “unlawfully and trickily” collected a motorcycle with registration number KJA QG, worth N185,000.
Apata said that the offence contravened section 383 and was punishable under section 390(9) of the Criminal Code, Laws of Ekiti State, 2012.
The prosecutor urged the court to adjourn the case to enable him study the file and assemble his witnesses after the defendant pleaded not guilty.
His counsel, Mr Emmanuel Sumonu, urged the court to grant his client bail and promised that the defendant would not jump bail.
The Magistrate, Mrs Taiwo Ajibade, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N100,000 with one surety in like sum, and adjourned the case until Sept. 17 for hearing.
