Man, 47, assaulted for allegedly converting brother to Christianity

A 47-years-old man, Mr. Gbenga Akinyemi has been attacked and seriously injured by suspected Islamic extremist, in Ilorin, Kwara state for allegedly protecting his brother.

Akinyemi who was fighting for his life as a result of the injury he sustained, said that the Islamic extremists were after his younger brother’s life for converting from Islam to Christianity.

He added that his younger brother, Oladapo who also suffered similar attacks in the past ran away with no members of his family knowing his whereabout till date.

He further said the earlier attack on his brother led to his relocation to Ilorin, Kwara State, but was surprised when the extremists found him out.

He alleged that the attackers informed him that they were not after him but his brother. “If you cooperate with us and provide us with information about the whereabout of your brother, we will let you be”,

He added that all his plea that he does not know the bidding place of his proved abortive, which resulted to the injury he sustained.

He further said that another member of his family also suffered the same fate, as his and he was afraid that if nothing is done, what befell his brother might happened to another member of the family.

“In fact, my family are distraught and extremely traumatized by the turn of event and we really need help to stop thus ugly development”, Akinyemi said.
