Man bags one year imprisonment for stealing motorcycle in Jigawa

The Jigawa State Magistrate’s Court sitting in Birnin Kudu Local Government on Wednesday sentenced a 28-year-old Bashir Abdullahi to one year imprisonment for stealing a motorcycle.

The prosecution counsel told the court that the suspect was arrested on Thursday, February 24, 2022 by Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, personnel at about 6 o’clock in the morning when he ran out of fuel.

He said his suspicious character prompted his arrest by the NSCDC operative and arraigned before the magistrate Court for alleged Trespass and Theft.

He said the Suspect confessed to have stolen the motorcycle (Suzuki, Blue colour) from the house of one Yusuf Ismail of Maichediya Village, Birnin Kudu Local Government Area of the state.

The Presiding Judge, Bashir Adamu, said the offences of trespass and theft is contrary to section 349, & 286 of Penal Code Law.

Justice said the prosecution counsel proved his case beyond reasonable doubt and therefore sentenced him to six months imprisonment for Trespass with fine option of N10,000 and nine (months imprisonment with fine option of N20,000 for theft.
