Borno State Governor, Babagana Umara Zulum, has approved a new mega High Islamic College to be cited at New Marte, a community in Marte Local Government Area.
The governor gave the order on Sunday when he visited the town located along the shores of Lake Chad Basin.
Zulum, since 2019, freshly built over 34 mega primary and secondary schools with hundreds of classrooms destroyed by Boko Haram insurgents. The blocks of classrooms have either been reconstructed or rehabilitated.
While in Marte, Governor Babagana Umara Zulum assessed the level of destruction by Boko Haram in the communities of Ala, Garade and Kaje in order to begin reconstruction and enable people to return.
The governor also met with the military commanders in Marte where modalities for the return of people to the three communities were discussed.
At most places he visited, Governor Zulum regularly held meetings with military commanders, volunteers, council chairmen, resident traditional heads and community leaders to review security situations and deploy strengthening measures where necessary.
Speaking in Ala town, the governor noted that the state government will provide logistics and cash support to the people for each to individually rebuild their houses.
The governor also reiterates commitment to reactivating the South Chad irrigation scheme which covers parts of the communities in Marte, Kukawa and Ngala local government areas.
While commending the military for the sacrifices made, Zulum urged them to put efforts for the internally displaced persons to return to their ancestral homelands.
