Monarch confers title on Yobe governor

A prominent monarch in Yobe, Emir of Fika, Alhaji (Dr) Muhammad  Idrissa, has conferred the traditional title of Baraden Fika on the State Governor, Alhaji Mai-Mala Buni.

The emir who is the Chairman, Yobe State Council of Chiefs, according to a statement by his media consultant, Mohammed Abubakar which was made available to journalists on Tuesday, conferred the title on Yobe state Governor, because of his contributions to the welfare of the less privileged in the state, Fika emirate, and the entire of traditional council in the state.

The statement revealed that the Emir of Fika would present the confererment letter to the governor very soon.

The Emir, in the statement said: “He (the governor) has done a lot for Potiskum and Fika emirate and is a dedicated and industrious man. This is why my emirate decided to honour him.@

The Emir charged the new traditional titleholder to discharge his responsibility diligently.

The conferment seems to receive the blessing of most of the natives of Fika, as some of them who spoke to our correspondent, described him as a man with youthful energy who exhibits the “characteristics of gentleness, frugality, humility and vision.”

Some also described him as a selfless leader that has the norms, values, qualities and capacity to stand up for the good people of Fika emirate. 

One of them who spoke anonymously said: “He (the governor) has done what other has not done, he is an individual with capacity to translate a vision into reality.

“He is hard working, diligent and has a proven commitment to the ideals of quality service delivery. He is a man with unique character that is second to none.”
