Morocco to host AFCON 2025

Morocco will lead four other East African countries to host the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) the Confederation of African Football (CAF) has announced.

The Executive Committee of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) who made the announcement on Wednesday, in Cairo, Egypt listed the joint host nations to include; Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania.

Morocco last hosted the AFCON in 1988 and was chosen in 2015 but asked for the tournament to be postponed because of the Ebola virus. CAF later decided to strip the North African nation of the hosting rights.

CAF President Patrice Motsepe celebrated the news saying that the “future of African football has never been brighter.”

He also predicted that an African nation will win the World Cup in the near future.
