Muazu bid farewell to Lagos police command hands over to Odumosu

The headquarters of the Lagos State police command Ikeja came alive yesterday when the newly promoted Assistant Inspector General of police (AIG) Zubairu Muazu formally handed over the duty of the command as a former commissioner of Police (CP) to the new commissioner of police(CP) Hakeem Odumosu.

The former police boss Muazu during the short ceremony appreciated the effort of officers and men of the command for the support given to him during his tenure as the commissioner of Police.

He also appreciated his predecessors who on assumption of office gave him major point and strategic security blueprint to work on in the state Metropolis.

According to him he followed the blueprint which lead to major breakthrough in arrest of dreaded kidnappers, dare devil robbers, cultism among other crime which have been brought to halt in the state metropolis.

He recalled that one of his major achievement during his stay was the last general election which was safest in the history of election in Lagos state.

The new Assistant Inspector General of police AIG Zubairu Muazu will assume a new role as AIG Anti-Terrorism in Nigeria.

On his part the new commissioner of police (CP) Akeem Odumosu said he will improve on what his predecessor have left on ground while promising that he will ensure adequate monitoring of the officers and men of the command to ensure professional performance and assure Lagos residents of adequate security in the state.

The new CP in a separate parely with journalists said he is determined to change the pattern of traffic in Lagos state metropolis. According to him this will be achieve by ensuring that traffic police men worked in major traffic point for 24 hour through adequate monitoring and posting.

He vowed to deal decisively with criminals who capitalize on traffic headlock in the major highways within the state to attack motorists and passengers.

He recalled many years ago when he was the commander of Rapid Response Squad (RRS) and use his professional skills to tackle criminals in the state especially traffic robbers.

He noted that his regime will make Lagos State safer by bringing the public closer to the police in line with the objective of community policing.

CP Odumosu told journalists that very soon the command will publish the telephone numbers of all senior officer and their position in national newspapers with a view to make it easy for members of the public to access and work closely with officers and men of the command in ensuring a safer Lagos.
