The governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Lagos state,, Dr Abdulazeez Olajide Adediran (Jandor), has said that his government would promote local content in the implementation of policies.
Adediran made this pledge on Friday in Apapa local government when addressing the leadership of the Nigeria Automobile Technician Association (NATA).
The PDP governorship candidate said that promoting local content while executing government policies would ensure the wealth of the state is distributed among the people.
He added that recycling the wealth of the state within the midst of the few in government would further deepen poverty and create economic gap between the masses and the elite.
Adediran assured that he would never run an elitist government, alleging the ruling APC of running ‘government of the elite for the elite’.
” We are putting an end to the government of elite for the elite. Enough of elitist government. We would not collect from the poor for the rich. We will be deliberate about governing Lagos when we become governor in 2023″, said Adediran.
He stated that the challenges facing Lagos was leadership, saying that he would stop extortion of artisans in any form in the state.
” The solution to the problem facing your association from the government is to vote out the APC from the top to the bottom. Nothing has changed in the past 23 years of their reign in Lagos.
” It is the responsibility of government to provide welfare for the citizens than to kill their sources of income. Our government will cater for your welfare through people oriented policies.
He pledged to create conducive environment for the association to do their job within the localty, adding that their economic survival should be hindered for any reason.
Earlier, the Public Relations Officer (PRO) of NATA (Apapa Chapter), Com. Plus Enekhawore, who spoke on behalf of the leadership of the association, said that their members suffer from unconducive working environment.
Enekhawore urged the PDP governorship candidate to come to their aid if elected.
” We don’t have a space to do our work. This really affects our job and income. We will want you to provide a space for NATA in Apapa when you are elected into office”, said Enekhawore.
Also, the representative of Truck drivers in Apapa area, Com. Seyi Modekoya, lamented the high rate of touting and extortion by youths in the area, saying that most youths have resorted to touting for survival because of the encouragement they enjoyed from the APC.
Modekoya urged the governorship candidate to put in place policies that would end touting if elected.
In a related development, Adediran who observed Jummat Prayer with muslim faithful in Danlami Mosque in Apapa, visited the Hausa community along with the House of Assembly candidate, Mallam Aliyu Dauda.
Addressing the Hausa youths, Adediran pledged to protect their interest if elected, saying that it was the reason the party fielded a northern as its Assembly candidate.
He canvassed support for all the candidates of the party, saying that the victory of the PDP’s presidential candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar is non-negotiable.
” Alhaji Atiku’s victory will ease my victory, so if you want me in government to solve all the problems you have been facing from the APC government in Lagos, you have to vote for Atiku come February 2023″, said Adediran.
