Christian Youth in Politics (CYP) a pressure group passionate about the advancement of good governance and more active participation of Christians in the electoral process, has called on Churches and other faith base sects to engage in charitable activities in order to cushion the harsh realities that prevails in the country due to the naira crunch.

The Director General CYP connect International  Ambassador Princess Kolawole made the call in a chat with newsmen in Lagos on Monday 20th February, 2023 adding that government is not the only one responsible in the areas of giving succour in such situations.

Ambassador Kolawole note that many Churches nowadays shy away from biblically cited responsibility,  especially in the area of charity adding that the biting economic realities the less privileged Christians are grappling with demands intervention from faith based organisations and the Churches in particular .

“So many church owners are well to do but they just feel unconcerned with the fact that many that have not are in this country,  I am saying Christians who need little support like food stuffs and tokens to survive the hard time we are in.

“This is certainly not the time the churches should look the other as regards the welfare of members imagine where the little they have in the bank cannot be accessed and they need to cater for their needs.

” I think the most noble and acceptable thing for the church now is to intervene, back in the days of the apostles they make provisions for the needy in their midst, so as to guide against untoward conduct, an hungry man they say is an angry man. The Church need live up to this divine responsibility.”
