The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has donated relief materials to internally displaced persons (IDPs) recently affected by fire incident at the Monguno camp in Borno state.

The NEMA Director General, Mustapha Maihajja, disclosed on Wednesday while inspecting movement of the relief materials to Monguno.
He said the items were provided by the Federal Government to support the victims of the mishap.
Maihajja lamented that the inferno occurred in the camp that is located inside the local stadium in Monguno town, affecting many of the IDPs.
He said he was in Maiduguri to ensure that blankets, matrasses, as well as food that include beans, rice, cooking ail and other non-food items get to the victims of the fire incident.
He said: “I am here today to monitor the delivery; we are now loading from various wherehouses of NEMA to the vehicles that we have stationed to move them to Monguno.
“We also have tents, we have blankets, you know its very cold in that place now; all enough in order to cover thier houses.”
On the recent influx of IDPs into Maiduguri following re-insurgence of Boko Haram, Maihajja said that NEMA and other coordinating agencies were working round the clock to adressed the situation.
“You know an operation of this nature involves multi-sectoral, multi-agency intervention. The IOM and SEMA have been building alot of tents in various designated camps to address the crisis.”
“But for Monguno, we realized that thier was no arrangement of that nature as regards shelter and that was why we quickly respond as NEMA.
“You can see all the trucks, The SEMA’s are here and we have had several meetings with stakeholders and UNOCHA. We will be the first respondent because we have the items on ground.”
