The Director General of the National Environmental Standards and Regulations Enforcement Agency (NESREA), Prof. Aliyu Jauro has called on citizens and organisations at all levels to abide by laid down environmental regulations in order to safeguard the environment.
Prof. Jauro made the call shortly after receiving awards for himself and NESREA at the Nigeria GovTech Awards organized by the Bureau of Public Service Reforms, Saturday in Abuja, the nation’s capital.
The Director General expressed his delight at the award for the best Federal MDA in the Use of Environmental Sustainable Technology Implementation in the country conferred on NESREA and the Distinguished GovTech Trailblazer’s Award for exemplary leadership bestowed on him.
He described the awards as testimonies of the efforts of the agency and also a motivation to work even harder at combating environmental crimes.
He said: “I assure Nigerians that NESREA would never tolerate any infractions on the environment and the agency remains committed to enforcing all environmental regulations without fear or favour”.
