Neville hails Man United star after 4-0 defeat to Liverpool

Gary Neville

Former Manchester United man, Gary Neville has singled just one player from Ralf Rangnick’s side that faced Liverpool last night.

Nevile praised youngster, Hannibal Mejbri for his spirited cameo in their heavy defeat against the Reds on Tuesday night.

United were thrashed 4-0 by Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool side at Anfield, with Luis Diaz, Mohamed Salah (two) and Sadio Mane on the score sheet.

Neville, who found absolutely nothing good in the performance of the Red Devils on the night, praised the young Tunisian, who came on late for his first Premier League appearance of the season.

One of the 19-year-old’s first touches earned him a yellow card after he made a late challenge on Liverpool captain, Jordan Henderson, but rather than scold the attacking midfielder, Neville hailed Mejbri’s tenacity.

He said: “To be fair, at least the kid’s showing a bit of something. Honestly, it takes a young kid to come on and show the rest of them how to sprint to the ball and put a challenge in.”

‘I’m actually proud of him. Maybe he doesn’t like the idea of Liverpool players passing round him. I wish the rest of them were the same,” he said on Sky Sports.
