Nigeria Ambassador to Togo, Adesina celebrates Nigeria’s great potentials at 61

His Excellency Ambassador Debo Adesina, Nigeria's Ambassadr to Togo

The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Federal Republic of Nigeria to Togo, His Excellency, Ambassador Debo Adesina, has celebrated Nigeria’s enormous potentials and greatness even as he congratulated her on her 61st anniversary.

The Ambassador who have been speaking on his dreams for the two countries, said he intends to build on the strong bilateral relationship between the two-sister nations and ensure the continued prosperity, peace and unity of Nigerians in Togo.

In a statement issued by the Ambassador, Adesina said Nigeria and Togo would continue to look out for one another on the world stage and deepen their economies.

His statement reads:

On this occasion of Nigeria’s 61st Independence Anniversary, I am extremely blessed to be the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Federal Republic of Nigeria to Togo.

Togo and Nigeria have come a long way together as brothers and partners. We co-founded the Economic Community of West African states, ECOWAS, and have always looked out for one another on the world stage.

Togo is a country whose true identity is not captured in its geographical size or population but in the size of its ambitions and the big heart of its people.

We hope to deepen our relationship and grow our economies by collaborating in as many areas as would build prosperity for all of our people. Of course, there are so many areas in which, together, both countries can win not only for each other and our region but also for Africa.

Trade and investments have been our priority and work is apace on the creation of a Nigeria-Togo Business Council.  But we are also working on cultural exchanges and collaborations in education as well as sports. We have started engaging with members of the academia, the science and the arts community in Lome and in Nigeria to form what I call the Nigeria-Togo Ideas Forum.

I am grateful for the cooperation I have received from  all Nigerians in Togo. A lot of high-calibre Nigerians are, indeed, working with us on all of the ideas we are putting forward.

There is a huge population of Nigerians in Togo just as there is a big community of the Togolese in Nigeria. The idea of building prosperity on both sides is therefore the right thing to do.

Our borders are not supposed to be guardrails against each other. They are lines of convenience and order, not barriers to our joint progress and prosperity.

Indeed, our two countries have a duty to form a joint front for the edification of Africa and the entire Black Race!
