With 30 new cases, the lowest in recent days, Lagos State went beyond the 1000 mark, hitting the record books as the first state in Nigeria to make the mark.
The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) data declared Lagos now has 1006 Coronavirus cases as at Friday.
It appears the state has passed its peak as it recorded a drop in infections in the last two days.
After it ramps up 87 coronavirus cases on Wednesday, Lagos recorded a drop in infections to 45 on Thursday and has further gone down to 30 on Friday.
As it is, the state is still the epicentre of the virus, but if the figures being churned out by Kano on daily basis continue, it may dethrone Lagos as the epicentre.
The state also discharged 26 more patients on Friday, made up of two Philipino and 24 others. Meanwhile, the total number of survivors discharged so far stood at 225, with 28 deaths.
According to the data released by NCDC around 11.55pm on Friday, Nigeria’s total confirmed cases are now 2170. Number of discharged cases stood at 351, while 68 patients have so far died from the disease nationwide.
The NCDC stated that 238 new COVID-19 cases was recorded in the country across all the testing centres. A breakdown of this figure showed; Kano became the new epicentreof the virus recording 92 cases in a single day.
Others are; FCT, Abuja, 36, Lagos 30, Gombe 16, Bauchi 10, Delta 8, Oyo 6, Zamfara 5, Sokoto 5, and Ondo 4.
Also included are Nasarawa 4, Kwara 3, Edo 3, Ekiti 3, Borno 3, Yobe 3, Adamawa 2, Niger 1, Imo 1, Ebonyi 1, Rivers 1 and Enugu 1.
Active Coronavirus cases in the state right now stand at 753.
How States Stand
