Nigerians are already criticizing what they called the very expensive cost of the nomination form for elective offices under the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The APC National Executive Council had met on Wednesday and ratified the cost of nomination forms for all elective offices on the party’s ticket.
Presidential aspirants of the All Progressives Congress (APC) are to pay the sum of N100 million to procure the party’s nomination form, while governorship aspirants are to pay the sum of N50 million, the party said on Wednesday.
A statement issued by the party’s National Organising Secretary Alhaji Sulaiman Mohammed Argungu said presidential aspirants are to pay the sum of N30 million for the expression of interest, while N70 million is to be paid for the nomination form.
For the governorship, aspirants are to pay N10 million for expression of interest and N40 million for the nomination form. For the Senate, aspirants are to pay the sum of N20 million, divided into N3 million for expression of interest and N17 million for the nomination form; while aspirants for the House of Representatives are to pay the sum of N10 million, split into N1 million for expression of interest, while N9 million is to be paid for nomination form.
Aspirants for Houses of Assembly are to pay the sum of N2 million split into N500, 000 for expression of interest form and N1.5 million for nomination form.
The party however waved the purchase of nomination forms for all women aspirants and for people living with disabilities. These two categories of people, the statement said, are to merely pay for the expression of interest for all elective offices.
Also, youth, 35 years and below, are to purchase the expression of interest form with 40 percent of discount of the nomination forms for all elective offices.
The party have also released its political activities time table, which it said is released in compliance with the Electoral Act 2022 (as amended), beginning with the notice of elections to state chapters, which comes up on Friday, April 22, 2022, while the sale of forms would begin on Saturday, April 23, 2022 to Friday, May 6, 2022.
Congress to elect state and national Delegates are to take place from Saturday, May 7, to Monday, May 9, 2022, while Tuesday may 10, 2022, is slated for the last date for submission of forms and accompanying documents at the party’s National Headquarters, Abuja.
The statement said screening of all aspirants begins with Thursday, May 12, 2022, slated for Houses of Assembly and governorship aspirants; while National Assembly aspirants screening (House of Representatives and Senate slated for Friday May 13, 2022, while presidential aspirants’ screening comes up on Saturday May 14, 2022.
Publication of claims and objections follows almost immediately, according to the statement, with the objections of claims to Houses of Assembly and governors holding on Friday May 13, 2022, while that of House of Representatives and Senates holds on Saturday, May 14, 2022, while objections for all presidential aspirants has been slated for Sunday May 15, 2022.
Screening appeals will be coming up thereafter, with the appeals for Houses of Assembly and governorship aspirants taking place on Saturday May 14, 2022, while Houses of Representatives and Senate are slated for Tuesday May 17, 2022, while Presidential appeals are to be screened on Monday, May 23, 2022.
Primary election for governorship will according to the timetable come up on Wednesday, May 18, 2022, Houses of Assembly comes up on Friday May 20, 2022, House of Representatives, comes up on Sunday May 22, 2022, while primary election for Senate comes up on Tuesday May 24, 2022.
Election appeals would begin with the governorship appeals to be heard on Friday May 20, 2022, Houses of Assembly Sunday May 22, 2022, House of Representatives Tuesday May 24, 2022, and Senate, Thursday May 26, 2022.
The special convention for the presidential primary comes up on Monday May 30, 2022 to Wednesday June 1, 2022.
