NNPC Filling station goes up in flame in Lagos

One of the NNPC mega stations went up in flames on Yaya Abatan road, Ogba, Ifako-Ijaiye, Lagos on Monday.

The Director of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), Dr Femi Oke-Osanyintolu said a tanker inside the filling station caught fire and spread to other buildings nearby.

No casualty was recorded in the incident.

It was not clear whether the tanker was offloading when the fire started.

It was further gathered that the filling station also had a gas station, and a shopping plaza.

Oke-Osanyintolu said “emergency responders at the scene caught fire which culminated to the spread of the fire to buildings nearby. Efforts are ongoing by the Response Agency led by mn of the Lagos state fire service were on ground to combat the inferno.”

He said rescue and operation is ongoing even as he urged members of the public to keep a safe distance and allow the responders contain the inferno.

No fewer than five fire trucks were seen combating the fire which has spread to nearby houses, and vehicles.
