Ogun East Senatorial candidate for the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), Hon. Wasiu Olufemi Ajirotutu, has pledged to engage with the people of his senatorial district with new infrastructures; socio-economic and political developments.
Ajirotutu said while addressing the journalists at Ijebu-Ode yesterday, 9 February 2023, that he was not happy with the underdeveloped condition of the infrastructural facilities in most of the towns in his political constituency.
He reminded the journalists of the fact that the duty of a senator is to make laws and whoever passes a humanitarian law at the senate will definitely reflect on the infrastructural development in his constituency.
He said, “Most of the roads in Ijebu-Ode are bad today because canals and drainage systems were not constructed along with the construction of the roads and the inner streets in the town are not worth appreciating.”
“My political counterparts for the Ogun East Senatorial seat, especially the one from the All Progressive Congress (APC), Otunba Gbenga Daniel, ruled Ogun State as a democratic governor for eight years but left the office without any blueprints for democratic development,” he said.
Ajirotutu emphasized that it is the turn of a candidate from Ijebu to take over the affairs of the Ogun East Senatorial district at the senate, adding that giving the opportunity to any candidates from other towns in the senatorial district is a slap in the face of the people of Ijebu.
“The job could only be done perfectly well by a young and vibrant candidate whose political antecedents are traceable as I am, not an old candidate who sees the senate as a home for retirement,” he said.
He said, “I want all the people of Ogun State to vote for NNPP on the 25 of February and 11 of March in order to take back the ordained glory of the state successfully from the political fanatics.”
