Gubernatorial candidate Olufemi Ajadi, of the New Nigeria Peoples’ Party (NNPP) in the 2023 general election, today, displayed a touching demonstration of respect and solidarity with the ancient community of Ibadan by attending the funeral of Madam Sariyu Abeni Ayansola there.
Madam Ayansola, who reached the remarkable age of 95, peacefully passed away on October 30, 2023, and was laid to rest in accordance with Islamic rites on the same day.
Her Fidau prayer took place on Tuesday, November 7, 2023, at her residence in Ibadan.
Ajadi’s presence at the 8-day Fidau prayer was a testament to his deep connections within the community and his unwavering commitment to forging strong bonds with the people of Oyo State.
As one of the national chieftains of NNPP, he extended his heartfelt condolences to the grieving family and celebrated the rich and meaningful life of the late Ayansola.
In his tribute, Ajadi remarked, “Mrs. Ayansola was a living testament to the resilience and rich cultural heritage of Ibadan.
“Her life story is an inspiration to us all, and her passing is a great loss to our community.”
He went on to wish all those who accompanied him to Ibadan a safe journey back to their respective destinations, and he expressed his hope that they would carry on the legacy of their parents.
The Fidau procession drew a large gathering of community members, political supporters, and well-wishers who came to bid a final farewell to the beloved centenarian. This event served as a poignant reminder of the profound cultural and familial bonds that unite the people of Ibadan.
Madam Ayansola’s legacy of longevity and her invaluable contributions to her community are certain to be etched in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing her.
Accompanying Comrade Ajadi to the occasion were other prominent political figures, including the SouthWest PRO for NNPP, Hon. Kilamuwaye Badmus; the PRO NNPP Ogun State, Comrade Olowu Olayemi Omokehinde; Comrade Awoeyo Olugbenga Olaitan; Hon. Teluwo Kehinde, and Hon. Fatai Adenaya, popularly known as Modawoni. Their presence underscored the significance of the event and the strong ties that bind the NNPP to the community.
