Ondo State government has said there is no confirmed case of COVID-19 in the state after 12 individuals were tested but the results of five returned negative.
Checks also showed that the state has 11 ventilators but only five are working.
Commissioner for Health and Chairman of the inter-ministerial committee on COVID-19, Dr. Wahab Adegbenro, who addressed a news conference, said results of the other seven suspected cases would soon be released.
Adegbenro also said Governor Akeredolu Oluwarotimi approved N98.85 million for the committee to carry out its duties effectively.
Adegbenro said the state’s Infectious Disease Hospital (IDH) has become functional but the National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has ordered that all confirmed cases be transferred to Lagos State for treatment.
He added that the testing centre for Ondo is at Ede in Osun State.
Akeredolu has ordered the immediate closure of all markets from today.
The order, according to Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Donald Ojogo, followed the refusal of residents to obey an earlier directive of partial closure of markets.
The partial closure excluded life-saving items such as food, water, and medicines but the total ban was irrespective of any item. The markets are to remain closed until further notice, Ojogo added
