The Plateau State Government has assured Nigerians that peace has returned to the Jos Correctional facilities after Sunday evening’s attack. It also said, information available to it indicated that no inmate escaped from the facility.
The Plateau State Commissioner of Information Mr Dan MangJang made this known on Monday, in an interview on Morning Show. on Arise News.
He said the proactive agencies around the centre prevented the escalation of the situation adding that the facility officials are already profiling all inmates to fish out some of the gunmen who were learnt to have mingled with them after being trapped inside the facilities.
He said the Governor Mr Samuel Lalong would be paying an on-the-spot assessment to the facility this morning to have a full view of the developments adding that the government would be keeping Nigerians abreast of developments.
Describing the increasing spate of attacks on correctional facilities around the country as worrisome, Mangjang said this was one of the reasons why the State Governor Mr Samuel Lalong have been among governors advocating neighbourhood policing adding that the Rainbow Watch, established by the government has been doing well in nipping crisis in the bud.
