The Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) has announced special train services for the Easter period to cater to increased passenger traffic across its routes.
Under the arrangement, the Lagos-Ibadan Train Service will operate three trips on Thursday, April 2, 2026.
Departures from Mobolaji Johnson Station, Ebute Metta, are scheduled for 7:45 a.m., 1:40 p.m. and 4:00 p.m., while trains from Obafemi Awolowo Station, Moniya in Ibadan will leave at 8:00 a.m., 10:50 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.
The corporation also disclosed plans to run a special train service on the narrow gauge corridor in partnership with the Osun State Government.
The service, which will be free for passengers, will depart Iddo Station in Lagos for Osogbo at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, April 3, and return from Osogbo to Lagos at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, April 6.
Meanwhile, the Abuja-Kaduna Train Service will maintain its regular schedule, with two trips on Thursdays and three daily trips from Friday to Monday between Idu and Rigasa.
On the Warri-Itakpe corridor, train services will continue to run daily except Thursdays, which are set aside for maintenance. Trains from Warri to Itakpe will operate on Sundays, Tuesdays and Fridays at 8:00 a.m., while return services from Itakpe to Warri will run on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays at 12:00 noon.
Similarly, the Port Harcourt-Aba service on the eastern narrow gauge corridor will sustain its routine timetable, with trains departing Port Harcourt at 8:00 a.m. and Aba at 3:00 p.m.
The NRC advised passengers to plan their journeys ahead, arrive early at stations and comply with ticketing and security procedures during the holiday period.
