The discovery of a young nurse’s body without a womb after she purportedly went on a night out on Friday caused anxiety in several areas of Ibadan, the capital of Oyo State.
Police discovered the nurse, who was later named as Omoniyi Boluwatife, dead, and removed her corpse.
Boluwatife, a Lead City University alumna, reportedly joined the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria on Tuesday.
She apparently went to a bar on Tuesday night to celebrate her recent admission into the nursing profession. She was subsequently discovered dead.
In a viral video, the remains of Boluwatife were seen on the floor.
A source who preferred to be anonymous had told Newsmen that prior to the night the incident happened, Boluwatife accompanied her mother to the motor park after she travelled from Port Harcourt to join her in the celebration.
The source added, “Boluwatife was a member of my church. In fact, she gave testimony about her graduation last week Sunday after she cleared the carry-over course delaying her graduation. She was a gentle person, and to hear the news of her death broke me.”
Reacting to the news of her death, the club where she reportedly went, Copacapana, denied that the incident happened within its premises, adding that its management would not take responsibility for incidents that occur outside its premises.
In a press statement on Friday, it said, “It saddens our heart to hear about the tragic event that happened to some customers after leaving our facility. However, as a nightclub, we cannot take responsibility for incidents that occur outside our premises, although our thoughts and prayers are with the victims and their families.
Meanwhile, efforts to reach the Oyo State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Adewale Osifeso, proved abortive as calls and messages to his mobile telephone were neither answered nor replied as of press time.
City Round gathered that the incident caused some apprehension among the people of the state and beyond, as many wondered what could have happened to the deceased. Some others mourned her passing as they lamented that the incident simply brought her efforts to an abrupt end.
