NYSC members charged to partake ineffective national integration

Batch B Stream II Corps members deployed to Osun State have been charged to play an effective part in national integration even as they serve their country in the compulsory one-year youth service corp.

This charge was given by the Director-General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Brigadier General Shuaibu Ibrahim during the swearing-in ceremony of the Corpers held at the NYSC permanent orientation camp, Ede.

Represented by the Osun State Coordinator, Ayodele Adegoke, General Ibrahim stated that the goals of the scheme have been to enhance national integration, unity, and oneness amongst the various ethnic groups in the country.

The NYSC boss told the corp members that part of their responsibilities is to bridge the gap between the rich and the poor, and all sections of society to ensure individuals are seen as one irrespective of who they were.

He said the ceremony as a means of preparing the corp members physically and mentally for their contributions to the growth and development of the nation.

While advising the Corps members deployed to the state to abide by the rules binding them as duly sworn in members of the scheme, General Ibrahim enjoined them to adhere to the COVID-19 protocols and to ensure strict compliance to all the regulations for their safety and that of others.

Earlier, the Chief Judge of Osun State, Justice Oyebola Adepele Ojo, who was represented by Justice Lawrence Oluwafemi Arojo had administered the national pledge and NYSC oath of allegiance on the corps members.

Out of the 1358 corp members deployed to Osun, 546 were males while the rest 812 were females.
