The Speaker Lagos State House of Assembly Rt.Hon Mudashiru Obasa has tasked staffers and members of the state legislature to believe much more in the power of ceaseless prayers, to him times of trouble ought not be when we start praying.
Obasa who took the bible reading from Psalm 150 verses 1-6, made this remark while appreciating organizers of a special birthday thanksgiving service held in his honour at the Assembly’s Christian Chapel on Wednesday.
He added that God listens when we pray and so man need be more dedicated and committed to praying.
“Prayer is all it takes, we all need to dedicate our lives to God,cry to him always, for him to listen, we need not wait until the time of trouble.
“When we chose to refurbish the house of God we dedicated it to God, we never saw this coming at all, we shall substantially do much more here.
“Those in charge should look inward on what areas we are in need that will be sorted.” Obasa pledged.
In his vote of thanks the Clerk of the house Barrister Olalekan Onafeko noted the qualities of Mr Speaker, whom he referred to as a down to earth builder of men.
He noted that Obasa is a welfarist and passionate change agent,whose towering heights is clearly visible to all in terms of total overhaul of the Assembly’s complex better than it used to be.
“Today we are here to celebrate the Speaker’s goodness, I urge you all to be good as this attracts recognition as we celebrate his golden jubilee.
“On behalf of the staffers of the Lagos State House of Assembly, I want to thank Almighty God for giving us a selfless and passionate speaker to speak on behalf of the people of the state.
” May God Almighty continue to be with you, give you good health, guide and enable you to rule this House again in the 10th Assembly.”
The cleric Prophet Olumide Akinola-Oni was full of eulogies and prayer for the Speaker, noting that he has been an epitome of humility, a pacesetter and protagonist of good things, a legend whose continuity has been sanctioned by divine arrangement.
Prophet Akinola-Oni there and then presented a gold plated horse as birthday gift to the speaker.
The thanksgiving service was attended by staffers and other stakeholders in the state legislature and other friends of the house.
The Executive Secretary, Lagos State House of Assembly Service Commission LAHASCOM, Mrs Folashade Latona and its Acting Chairman, Mr Akin Oshungboye were present at the service.
Meanwhile as the week-long birthday celebration of the Speaker winds down this Friday, 11th November, 2022 the staffers coordinated by the planning committee have engaged in one activity or the other; sporting events and other indoor games, even visits to schools to show benevolence to upcoming ones in the locality.
Earlier on Wednesday the team paid a visit to Oyewole Senior Secondary school and Oyewole Primary school the Speaker’s alma mater to distribute packs of notebooks to students and pupils of the schools in commemoration of his fiftieth birthday.
Elated Principal of Oyewole Senior Secondary School Mr. Salman Hassan-Kehinde expressed deep sense of appreciation while praying for good health and greater attainment for the Speaker.
“The management team of Lagos State House of Assembly are here to bless our well over 2000 students with notebooks in commemoration of our Speaker Rt.Hon Mudashiru Obasa’s 50th birthday celebration he will speak again by the special grace of God.
“We are all happy to see you here to give teaching and learning support to the students. Lagos state is moving it has become a centre of excellence for states even in Africa, not only in Nigeria.
“By the grace of God he will continue to be lifted higher, bless and endow him with whatever he needs to achieve more success.”
The Education Secretary in Agege Mrs Motunrayo Ogunyomi, who welcomed the team at Ifelodun primary school complex Oyewole in Orile Agege, extol the virtues of Obasa, whom she cited as one who has changed the face of politics in Agege.
“He has made Agege the best in the whole of Lagos state, there is one sign that touch me,that all the parties endorse him to run again as APC candidate for House of Assembly.
“If you look at the six wards that fall within his constituency nobody came out against him from all the parties, you can never see any poster except that of our Dr. Rt.Hon. Speaker Mudashiru Ajayi Obasa from ward A in Agege to Ward E in Orile.
“If he has done well and people appreciate him this much that all the parties endorse him. I really appreciate his legacy.
“ I know he is worthy of emulation and celebration, he is a man that started from the grassroots and rose to the height he is currently, he did not look down on anybody.
“He has been carrying everybody along since he has been there and I want him to continue in that stead, I pray for him to attain greater heights.”
Leading the delegation from the state House of Assembly, Mr Babalola Animashaun the Deputy Clerk note that the school was chosen, been the primary school the Speaker attended early in life.
For Mrs.Folashade Latona LAHASCOM Secretary the Speaker’s mien to life remains that of a goal getter, whose leadership style is people centred.
“The Rt Hon. Speaker is a welfarist and caring personality who very passionate about the welfare of staff and people that surround him.
“He is a good leader, very amiable but very down to earth, he is a kind hearted human being, I wish him well many more years in good health free of calamity.” Mrs. Latona prays.
