…commissions CIERED Knowledge Economy Hub in Abeokuta
The former President of Nigeria Chief Olusegun Obasanjo has declared that the Center for Industrial Engineering Research and Economic Development CIERED is a step in the right direction towards addressing Nigeria’s economic challenges.
Chief Obasanjo made the assertion while officially commissioning CIERED’s Knowledge Economy Hub in Abeokuta.
He posited that CIERED’s emergence is timely, given the dearth of functional researches that can effectively address Nigeria’s economic needs.
Chief Obasanjo said: “It’s time for Nigerian researchers to research outcomes to realities.
“We have had enough of researches on the shelf that are not proffering any solution to our challenges particularly economic challenges.
“So there must be deliberate action by our researchers to work towards conducting researches that will be actualized and impact our economy positively.” Obasanjo said.
The CIERED Director Media and Strategic Communications Directorate Amb.Kingsley Enwelim Nwanze notes that the centre targets creating a formidable platform for Researchers, Entrepreneurs, Business Enthusiasts, Founders and Idea generators to meet and come up with sustainable solutions to our economic challenges in Nigeria and Africa at large.
Dr.Tobi’ Adeuyi the CIERED Director General said the Knowledge Economy Hub concept became expedient, considering how major players in economic space have been working independently to solve our economic challenges in Nigeria.
He stated further that this approach to solving our economic challenges have inherent limitations.
So the hub will serve as a melting pot for Investors, Entrepreneurs, Business Enthusiasts, Government Policy Makers, International and Local Agencies, Angel Investors, Patient Fund Managers and other Stakeholders.
The CIERED Research and Development unit is headed by a Professor of Medical Engineering, Professor Adekunle Oloyede.
He will be coming on board with over three decade experience in Teaching and Researching.

The highlight of the event was the conferment of CIERED honorary award on Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, GCFR.
He is the first recipient of the center’s prestigious award for very distinguished personalities in Africa.
