Official compliments lands fake soldier in police station

A young man, who lives on impersonation as a soldier, for which he was once convicted, is on his way back to prison, for a similar criminal act.

Ex-convict Segun Ogundeji ran into murky waters at the Sango-Otta Police Divisional Headquarters in Ogun State at about 7:30pm on September 8, 2021, where he had gone to solicit for the release of a suspect in police custody.

Segun, Police said in a statement issued by the command’s spokesman (PPRO), Abimbola Oyeyemi, had an encounter with an Air Force operative, Corporal John Temitope, who took offence that he did not give him official compliments.

Segun, who was in full Army camouflage, ignored his accuser, a development that infuriated the Air Force operative, and soon degenerated into quarrels and called for the intervention of the Divisional Police Officer (DPO), CSP Godwin Edehai.

In his wisdom, the DPO invited the feuding ‘officers’ into his office for amicable ‘espirit-de-corps’ settlement, a move that turned out exposing the ‘soldier’ as an impostor.

It was equally discovered that the fake soldier had once been arrested and arraigned in court, resulting to his conviction for a similar offence.
Meanwhile, the state Commissioner of Police, Edward Awolowo Ajogun has ordered a full investigation into the past activities of the suspect, preluding his arraignment. The suspect was arrested on the 8th of September 2021, at about 7:30 pm.
