SUNRISE NEWS, Abeokuta, July 13, 2020 The Ogun State Community Development Agency (OS-CDA) has urged community executives in the state to make the regular maintenance of infrastructure projects in their areas a top priority as against the norms in the past and having a fixed mindset of ensuring its sustainability.
Speaking during inspection visits to Temidire and Akorede Communities in Abeokuta North and Ifelodun-Ojo, Oba Oke, as well as Imole Ayo, Oke Odo areas of Odeda Local Government Areas of the State, Board Chairman of the Agency, Pastor Oladeinde Odeyemi, through the Agency’s Press Office, Mrs. Yinka Kujore, applauded the Communities for the level of work done so far, admonishing them to put in more effort towards the timely and completion of the Second Phase of community development project.
“I sincerely express the agency’s satisfaction on the spate of work concluded, coupled with the quality of the project done. The Prince Dapo Abiodun led-administration in the state appreciates the importance of infrastructure development in communities spread across the state, and we are determined to alleviate every socio-economic challenges, as well as recognizing the need to make the people enjoy meaningful dividends of democracy at all levels,” he maintained
Earlier, the Agency’s General Manager, Engr. Sakirudeen Salaam, commended the Communities for making use of the money given to them by the government judiciously, advising them to do more for the success of the projects and calling on the Executives of the community to protect and ensure that the projects not sabotaged by unscrupulous elements within the communities.
Salaam stressed the need for the maintenance committee to be in place, to be able to look into the projects, and see to the maintenance of the project to guide them from being vandalized or destroyed by vandals within and outside the communities.
“Now the sustainability of these projects lie on you, the residents, as the government has done its part very well, it is your projects, not governments any more that is why we call it Community Driven Project (CDP), we only raise money for you, therefore, you need to monitor and maintain the projects,” Salaam reiterated
