Determined to reduce child morbidity and mortality rates, the Ogun State Government will hold the second round of 2022 Maternal, Newborn and Child Health (MNCH) week between Monday, October 31 to Friday, November 4, across the 20 Local Government Areas of the State.
A release by the State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Tomi Coker stated that Wife of the State Governor, Mrs. Bamidele Abiodun will flag off the week at the June 12, Cultural Centre, Kuto, Abeokuta on Monday, October 31, 2022 at 10am.
The release indicated that several health interventions would be provided for children between ages 0-59 months which include, Vitamin A Supplementation, immunisation of missed children and deworming of children between 12 to 59 months.
The release further stated that the low cost, high impact health care week long programme would cover malnutrition in children between ages 6-59 months, family planning services for mothers and health education on key household practices for improved lifestyle.
It added that the health care services would be provided at government health facilities, mobile fixed posts and outreaches, such as schools, markets, religious houses, parks and garages.
Mothers and caregivers are hereby enjoined to make their children and wards available, as well as inform others to avail themselves the opportunity of the programme at no cost.
