The people who came out in their numbers bearing placards on which were inscribed various messages such as “good roads bring more revenue to govt”, ” Ogun govt come to our aid”, “Our road is now a nightmare to residents”, and Mapara, Adiyan/Orudu road needs your attention”, “Our governor please come to our aid” among others, urged the Prince Dapo Abiodun administration to focus on the road and bring life and development closer to them.
One of the leaders of the protest Comrade Declan Ihekaire said the people have been left to cope with the deplorable condition for decades despite being good and responsible citizens who have always carried out their civic responsibilities as at when due.
He said: “We the people of Mapara Adiyan Orudu road in Ifo area of the Ogun State are appealing to the government to please come to our aid and help us finish the road project in our area.
“We are law abiding citizens and we would love to remind the government not to forget us in this area, but look back and assist us by bringing good road our way before the advent of the rain.”
Ihekaire who described good roads as one of the dividends of democracy which has been denied the people for over 22 years since the advent of the fourth republic, added that the people have always gone through very terrible condition as a result of the road, especially during rainy season.
He added that many have packed out of the area as a result of the bad road network which makes the area uninhabitable, especially during the rains.
