Seven months after the remains of a popular hotelier was found in the trunk of his car, operatives the Ogun State Police Command have cracked the mysterious circumstances surrounding his death.
The deceased, identified as Alhaji Jimoh Bello, was until his death, the owner of J.B Hotel, a popular hotel, in Owode-Yewa area of the state.
His lifeless and decomposing body was on May 29, 2020, found in his Toyota Camry car parked at Omo-Ilu Owotedo area, via Idiroko town.
The Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi said in a press release made available to Crime Puzzle that, residents of Omo-Ilu Owotedo noticed the car and, with the offesive odour oozing out of it, became curious and reported at Idiroko Divisional Headquarters.
The detectives, on arrival at the scene, forced the car door open, through which they got assess to opening the trunk, where the gory sight of the deceased body was found.
The case was subsequently transferred to the Homicide Section of the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department (SCIID) for discreet investigation, with clear mandate to fish out the killers.
Oyeyemi stated that the CSP Femi Olabode-led team embarked on intelligence and technical based investigation, which led them to the arrest of the herbalist, whose name was given as Misipode Dosu, who incidentally was the last person seen with the deceased.
However, according the PPRO, “On interrogation, the suspect confessed that the deceased contracted him for a money making ritual of which he billed him the sum of #300,000, out of which he had paid #250,000. But after some time, the deceased started pressurizing him that he had not seen any positive outcome of the ritual. Out of fear that the deceased might report him to the police for obtaining money from him under false pretence, he invited him to come for the final stage of the ritual at Idiroko.
“On getting there, he gave him a concoction prepared with a poisonous substance to eat and the man slumped and died immediately he ate the concoction”, Oyeyemi revealed.
In order to cover up his wicked act, the herbalist lifted the deceased body into the car truck and drove it to the that spot the corpse was recovered. .
The state Commissioner of Police, Edward A. Ajogun, has consequenty directed that the suspect be arraigned before a court of competent jurisdiction as soon as the investigation was concluded
