… Hon. Adenaya Fatai Alleges Lack of Development in Water-Side Local Government
By Ibrahim Kegbegbe
In a recent interview on Friday, 1st September 2023, Hon. Adenaya Fatai, also known as Modawoni, who contested for the Ogun State House of Assembly representing the Ogun Water-Side Constituency under the banner of the New Nigeria Peoples’ Party (NNPP) during the 2023 general election, has come forward with allegations of negligence by the Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun.
According to Adenaya, the two wards of Ayede Lomiro and Ayila Itebu in Water Side Local Government have been neglected by the present state government, leaving the residents without essential services and development.
Adenaya Fatai, who was a vocal contender during the election, expressed his concern over the lack of progress and development in the Ayede Lomiro and Ayila Itebu Wards since the inception of the current administration in Ogun State. He cited the deteriorating road infrastructure as a significant issue that has plagued these communities, hindering the movement of people and goods.
During the interview, Hon. Adenaya Fatai pointed out that the people of Ayede Lomiro Ward and Ayila Itebu Ward have been deprived of the “dividend of democracy” that they rightfully deserve. He emphasized that the neglect of these wards has had a profound impact on the livelihoods of the residents, making it difficult for them to access basic services and economic opportunities.
He said, “Residents of Ayede Lomiro and Ayila Itebu Wards have several times echoed to my ears their frustration over the deplorable state of roads and the lack of government attention to their communities. They claim that promises of development and improved infrastructure made during election campaigns have not been fulfilled, leaving them in a state of despair.”
“As the people of Ayede Lomiro and Ayila Itebu Wards continue to hope for positive change and development in their communities, I will not stop advocating for the desired development of my constituency,” he said.
A call to hear the views of the state government on the alleged allegation has been abortive up to the moment of filing this story.
