…restates commitment to welfare of teachers in rural areas

The Ogun State Ministry of Education has renovated over 900 public primary schools in demonstration of its commitment to improving the learning space at the rimary education seub-sector, the Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology Dr Femi Majekodunmi, has said.
The Commissioner who disclosed this while briefing the media on Wednesday said the action was executed in partnership with the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB).
According to his Press Officer, Mr. Bola Ogunsanwo, Dr. Majekodunmi said the Ministry in collaboration with SUBEB has also provided all primary schools in the state with instructional materials, and has improved on the welfare of teachers in order to create a conducive teaching and learning environment.
“Staff motivation is part of the agenda of this administration, most especially those working in the rural areas, and we are working towards ensuring that teachers, being the nation builders are well taken care of for them to perform optimally’’, he said.
He pointed out that the government is working round the clock to address the issue of shortage of teachers, particularly in the rural areas, saying it would not relent in building the capacity of teaching and non-teaching staff.
