The Chairman, Ogun State Teaching Service Commission, Evang. Olalekan Ifede has said it is essential for Principals in State public schools to develop their administrative skills and improve the capacity to manage stress.
Ifede stated this during a training session organised by the Commission with the theme “UpSkilling Critical Measures in Critical times” at Gateway ICT Polytechnic, Saapade in Remo.
He noted that the training was designed to furnish the principals with the necessary skills to enable them to build their managerial perception and leadership potentials during critical times.
According to him, secondary school leaders ought to be equipped with relevant skills to manage critical situations in their work environment, saying this would foster effective service delivery in the education sector.
He said: “I believe this training will enlighten you on how to manage critical situations in your schools. So, I implore you all to attune yourselves with the opportunities offered, as it will help develop your administrative skills and improve capacity to manage stress”, the Chairman said.
The TESCOM Chief commended the Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun for the ongoing reforms in the education sector, which is gradually yielding results.
In his contribution, a Commissioner and Chairman, Training Committee, TESCOM, Hon. Olanrewaju Majekodunmi, informed that the Commission deemed it expedient to acquaint the school heads with the rudiments of efficient administrative disposition to official duties.
He urged them to always establish a cordial relationship with their subordinates, as this would pave way for peace and progress in their schools.
Speaking, the Permanent Secretary in the Commission, Dr. Abdulwaheed Olanloye said the training would enable the principals to manage pressure effectively and bring more development in schools.
In her response, the Chairperson, All Nigeria Conference of Principals of Schools (ANCOPS), Dr. Mrs. Ayodele Womiloju who expressed satisfaction with the training session, said it would propel excellent service delivery among principals and their subordinates, adding that many leaders lack the propensity to improvise when required or under pressure.
In his presentation, Dr. Solomon Sokunbi, explained the essence of deploying subtle strategy in handling staff under their purview, as it would be a relative measure to attain success in their various assignments, charging the principals to leave good legacies and consistently monitor their health to achieve optimal goals in their career.
