So Mrs. Iyabo Sowunmi devised an ingenious way to snuggle drugs to her son at the Medium Security Custodial Centre, Ibara, Abeokuta. For added measure the man was on death row at the prison . He had been sentenced to death over a capital offense. However along with the items she brought for the son were packs of illicit Drugs neatly packed in a beverage.
So on Friday August 28 2026 Mrs Sowunmi approached the officials of the Custodial Centre and told them she had come to visit her son, Dare Sowunmi, Inmate on Death Row,IDR. That wouldn’t be the first time. And in line with extant regulations they proceeded to search what she brought for the son.
An eagle eye officer noticed a pack of a popular cocoa beverage. On closer examination he knew something was amiss. The pack was opened and neatly packed illicit drug known on the streets as “colos” was discovered.
She was arrested and later handed over to officials of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency NDLEA.
