The Chairman, Ogun State Teaching Service Commission (TESCOM), Hon. Olalekan Ifede has urged Zonal Secretaries to brace up to their responsibilities and present accurate data of teaching and non-teaching staff, in order to assist the Commission execute its duties effectively in the upcoming promotion exercise.
Hon. Ifede who said this in a meeting with Zonal Secretaries in Abeokuta, noted that as heads of schools and intermediaries between the Commission and members of staff in various Local Governments assigned, they are to ensure that updated information are made available when necessary.
The Chairman represented by the Permanent Secretary, Mr. Johnson Odeyemi, informed that they should explore the Information Communication Technology (ICT) advantage, to enhance work delivery, admonishing them to act diligently and abide by stipulated guidelines, to curb discrepancies in the names of qualified teaching and non-teaching staff.
The Chairman added that it was vital for the Secretaries to intimate staff on good appearance, exhibition of confidence, familiarisation with professional details and acquaint them with current affairs to create a hitch free promotion exercise.
“You must lead the staff to various promotion location as Zonal Secretaries, to reflect good leadership qualities. Also, endevour to enlighten them on the need to put up confidence and familiarise themselves with relevant professional details, in order to prove their worth’’, Ifede noted.
In their separate remarks, the Director Administration and Supplies, Mr. Abiodun Akinwunmi and his counterpart in Planning, Research and Statistics, Mrs. Funmilayo Ogungbe advised the Secretaries to embrace competence in the discharge of their duties.
Responding on behalf of other Zonal Secretaries in attendance, Mr. Odunsi Omolayo from Ijebu-East Local Government, assured that they would adhere to the directive of the Commission on the promotion exercise, to enable staff participate effectively.
