The Ebonyi chapter of Ohaneze Ndigbo Youth Wing has urged the newly constituted Service Chiefs to evolve fresh and pragmatic strategies to deal decisively with insecurity in the country.
Mr Obiya Sabastine, the state Chairman of the group, made the call on Wednesday in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abakaliki.
Sabastine described the appointment of the service chiefs by President Muhammadu Buhari as a welcome development and urged Nigerians to give them the necessary support.
“There is need for a change in every aspect of life. The president has done well and we hope to see improved security in all parts of the country.
“I can see that some of the service chiefs are still young and vibrant.
“There is need for them to develop new strategies that will help to ensure that the security challenges in the country are tackled.
“They should take measures to bring absolute peace and tranquility in the country because where there is no peace, there will be no progress.
“This is what Nigerians have been waiting for. You know, Nigeria as a country needs security outfit for economic growth.
“The new chiefs should do the needful to overcome the security challenges and give Nigerians a new hope,” Sabastine said.
