A yet to be identified motorist was killed on Thursday, by a commercial bus driver who is presently on the run, while driving against traffic at Meiran area of Lagos State.
The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) in a statement said the commercial bus driver with registration number EPE 964XX, while driving on high speed on one-way collided with a private Honda Civic car with registration number EPE 666BC.
The LASTMA spokesman, Taofiq Adebayo said the accident, according to one of the agency’s officials Ajanlekoko Anthony, occurred around 9.30am.
He said the driver of the Honda Civic Car sustained serious neck injury and died instantly.
“It was confirmed that the dead motorist was living inside Meiran Estate which is close to the scene of the accident.
The LASTMA officials who were first responders handed over the remains to his relations who came out from the estate.
“Both vehicles were immediately removed from the road and pave way for free vehicular movement to other road users. While the driver of the bus that took one-way the vehicle was handed over to the police from Meiran Police Station.
LASTMA’s General Manager Mr Bolaji Oreagba however warned motorists to desist ftom disobeying traffic laws particularly driving against traffic.
