Ile Oodua, the Palace of the Ooni of Ife, on Wednesday officially unveiled Queen Mariam Anako, the new and latest wife of Oba Enitan Ogunwusi Ojaja II.
Mariam had on Tuesday evening, after a brief rite, performed at the entrance to the palace of the monarch in Ile-Ife, Osun State, being led into the palace to begin her new role as the Queen of the ancient town of Ile-Ife and the Mother of the Yoruba race.
The new queen was led into the inner court of the palace to meet her husband and other guests waiting to receive her.
Oba Ogunwusi was in company with Ife traditional chiefs, close associates and friends welcomed the new Queen into the palace.
Also present at the ceremony were the Ooni’s elder brother, Sooko Adegboyega and the monarch’s other siblings.
Also present at the ceremony, were Anako’s relations from Ebiraland in Kogi State, and Ilorin in Kwara State, each taking turn to greet the Ooni.
The Queen who is the sixth wife of the King, is coming into the palace nine months after the last estranged Queen Naomi Silekunola, walked away from the marriage, announcing her separation via her verified Instagram Page.
Naomi announced separation from the monarch on Thursday 23 December, 2021, thus ending a marriage that produced a heir to the throne, Tadenikawo, named after one of the King’s predecessors.
The marriage lasted about three years.
