Ahead of 2023 general elections, no fewer than 1000 members of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Epe Local Government Area of Lagos State, have defected to the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.
Receiving the decampees during a rally of PDP in Papa Ward A5, Chairman of the party in Epe local government area of Lagos State, Alhaji Muthaz Hassan, assured the new members that “There shall be no segregation of members, be they new or old members. There shall be equal treatment of all members”.
He assured of them of quality better life once the party assume the mantle of leadership in 2023, assuring of equal rights for the old and new members of the party in Epe division.
Also speaking, the House of Representative candidate, Epe federal constituency, Hon. Noheem Abiodun Balogun accused the APC of plugging the country into calamity and woes, reiterating that the PDP was the only party that could rescue the country from its present political and economic quagmire.
He urged the PDP faithful to remain resolute and united, noting that the Governorship candidate of the party, Abdul-Azeez Adediran, (popularly known as Jandor) is a listening governor, and would not jeopardize the confidence reposed on him.
He added that there would be no discrimination of new members and old ones, as they have become one party, saying they would be of benefits to all members of the party to be united and making sure that the party win in the coming elections.
On behalf of the decampees, Mr. Azeez Agbaje and Mrs. Bose Dawod lamented that, they choose to cross to the party, after so much rigorous, pains, years of negligence and marginalisation they have suffered in the APC in the Local government area and the state in general, noting that the party had inflicted so much pains and hardship on them.
“In fact, we have suffered a lot in the ruling APC, due to their selfish interest, greed and personal ambition, now 90 percent of people are wallowing in abject poverty, so we decided to join the PDP, as there is a light there and equal representation”, they said
Also, an Okada rider, Mr. Fatai Adebare, said that he joined the PDP for the love and act of the humanity the party has for the masses, and also the good work of the House of Representative candidate of the federal constituency, Hon. Noheem Balogun.
He said that Balogun had empowered many Epe indigenes without political affiliation, nor tribe, religion and educational background, saying that he had also light up some nooks and crannies of some communities in the Epe division, through provision of solar streetlights for the communities.
He said that, he is ready to work for the party, as the ruling APC had disappointed millions of Nigerians voted for them in 2015 and 2019 elections, saying that it is only the PDP could rescue them from all the quagmires and predicaments.
On his part, the Media Adviser to Hon. Noheem Balogun, Yomi Agabje, thanked and hailed the leadership of the PDP both at state and LGA levels for considering him worthy of serving as media aide to Noheem Balogun.
