In a bid to revitalize community representation and address electoral setbacks, Mr. Owowa Kingsley, a dedicated member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has announced his intention to run for the position of councilor in Ward A of Eti-Osa Local Government, Lagos State, in the upcoming 2025 chairmanship and councillorship elections.

In an interview with our correspondent, Kingsley, a passionate advocate for community development and empowerment, shared his reasons for seeking candidacy under the APC.

He expressed, “During the last general election in Lekki, Itedo, Ikate, and Igbokusu, members of my party worked diligently to connect with residents in my wards. We highlighted the impactful infrastructure projects spearheaded by the current council chairman, Hon. Saheed Bankole, such as building drainages and fixing potholes on roads, which improved accessibility between towns. If chosen to represent my party in 2025 as a councilor, I aim to collaborate with the current councilor of my ward; together, we will engage with residents zone by zone, urging them to support the APC. This will ensure that they continue to benefit from the positive changes brought by Eti-Osa Local Government.”

Highlighting his extensive experience in community engagement and party activities, Kingsley outlined his involvement as a community leader, party agent, revenue collector in Eti Osa Local Government, supervisor for environmental cleaning in Lekki Phase 1, and security patrol agent in the same area. Additionally, he has served as a party coordinator in Ward A, contributed to electoral body activities within the party, and played roles in polling unit elections and other various local government assignments.

When asked about his approach to engaging with residents and ensuring their voices are heard, Kingsley emphasized the importance of democracy and community involvement. “Democracy is the government of the people, by the people, and for the people,” he stated. “I am going to organize town hall meetings to ensure residents’ concerns are addressed and their priorities reflected in decision-making processes.”

In response to the challenges facing Eti-Osa Local Government, Kingsley proposed innovative solutions to improve governance and enhance residents’ quality of life. “We need to bring the government closer to the people by organizing town hall meetings in various wards,” he explained, highlighting the significance of direct engagement and collaboration.

Kingsley’s candidacy signals a proactive approach to community representation and governance, with a focus on inclusivity, accountability, and grassroots participation. As the election season approaches, his commitment to serving the people of Ward A stands as a testament to his dedication to positive change and progress in the local community.
