Oyeyemi tasks marshals on support for women

Mrs Yemisi Oyeyemi, the National President of Road Safety Officers Wives Association (ROSOWA) and wife of the Corps Marshal of Federal Road Safety Corps, Boboye Oyeyemi, has called on Officers and Marshals of the corps to support their wives.

Mrs Oyeyemi made the appeal at the official inauguration of the newly formed association of Road Safety Wives Association (ROSWA) and the sendforth of the former chairperson of Road Safety Officers wives Association (ROSOWA) on Sunday in Ilorin.

She said that officers and marshals should support women with money for the growth of the association.

She also tasked members of the new association to ensure that the association succeeded on its mandate, adding that they should support their husbands and help one another.

Mrs Oyeyemi prayed for Alhaja Nimat Ologuntere, the former chairperson of ROSOWA in Kwara, on her sendforth, saying that God will give her great rewards for her successes when she was an executive of the association.

She however urged Ologuntere to continue to support the association.

The corps marshal’s wife charged the new chairperson to sustain the achievements of her predecessor, adding that she should do more for the benefit of the corps and the nation.

She appreciated the governor for supporting road safety activities in the state, while thanking the Zonal Commanding Officer (ZCO) Clement Oladele, and the Kwara Sector Commander, Jonathan Owoade, for ensuring road safety in the state.

The Zonal Commanding Officer, RS8HQ, Assistant Corps Marshal Clement Oladele, said the presence of the wife of the Corps Marshal showed her love for Kwara.

Oladele said since assumption of her duty, she had improved on the contributions made by her predecessors and reorganised Road Safety Officers Wives Association (ROSOWA), while forming another association that can cater for the marshals of the FRSC and some of the officer’s cadre.

He said the FRSC management under the tenure of the Corps Marshal, Boboye Oyeyemi, had witnessed giant strides in the areas of infrastructure and logistics to improve road safety management in Nigeria.

He also prayed for Oyeyemi’s tenure to end successfully while also praying that God increased his wife and blessed her career.

The ZCO commended Gov. AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for supporting the FRSC and for creating an enabling environment for road safety to thrive in the state.

Oladele advised the newly inaugurated association to work with the ROSOWA to ensure that Nigeria becomes a country where road traffic crashes does not lead to loss of lives.

He urged sister security agencies to emulate the initiative in order to cater for the welfare of men who were not in the officer’s cadre.

Mrs Iboro Shokunbi, the Chairperson of ROSOWA in Kwara, appreciated the wife of the corps marshal, adding that it is a rare privilege.

Shokunbi said the ROSWA was set up in 2020 with membership swelling up.

“I commend the ROSWA for standing strong at the beginning of the establishment and I want to encourage them to be active and make the association great.

“We have also come to honour and appreciate a woman who served not as convenient but as a calling.

“When she was the Chairperson of the association, Alhaja Nimat Ologuntere had great love for other military and paramilitary wives association.

“She was a great leader, mother and mentor, we pray that God will be with you in all you do,” Shokunbi said.

Alhaja Baliqees Oladimeji, the Director, Federal Information and Chairman of the occasion, charged women on joining forces in prayers to overcome the security challenges in the nation.

Oladimeji tasked women on agriculture in order to tackle food scarcity and insecurity facing Nigeria.

She said women should ensure that homes were conducive for their husbands in the military and paramilitary which will help them to do more for the nation.

Responding, Alhaja Nimat Ologuntere said she had served as the Chairperson of ROSOWA in the state for 15 years and appreciated the support she received from members of the association.

Ologuntere appreciated the wife of the corps marshal, noting that she made the activities of the association easy.

“She made our activities as an association simple and effective through her moral and financial support. I pray the Almighty will continue to make you a source of happiness and blessing to your family,” she said.

She charged members of ROSOWA and ROSWA to continue to uplift the ethics and values of the associations while promoting the aims and objectives.

The Chairperson of the newly inaugurated association, Mrs Rifkatu Kure, after taking the oath of office, appreciated Mrs Oyeyemi for deeming it fit to establish the ROSWA to cater for the welfare of marshals and their wives.

She assured that the association would live up to its responsibility, while reiterating their support for the corps and ROSOWA in order to ensure safer roads in the country.

ROSWA is a newly formed association of marshals wives established by Mrs Oyeyemi in 2020.

At the event were the Kwara Sector Commander, Jonathan Owoade; Chairperson Immigration Officers Wives Association in Kwara, Mrs Janet Oluyori; and Chairperson Police Officers Wives Association, Mrs Monisola Fabiyi, among others.
