Panic not, Karmo District Market is not on fire, management assures public

The management of Abuja’s popular Karmo District Market, has debunked report that the market was gutted by fire.

The denial followed a publication in the Thisday newspaper on Wednesday, January 17, 2024, indicating that the market was razed by fire.

It said the market that was razed by fire was the Karmo Market, and not the Karmo District Market which is still enjoying massive boost in the property market, by people who want a slice of the upscale market.

The management said the picture of the Karmo District Market was used to represent the scene of the burnt market.
According to a statement by the Management of the popular market, “the misinformation had degenerated into untold anxiety, and panic among our numerous customers and business partners alike querying authenticity of the information.”

The management condemned in totality the said publication, and demanded a retraction even as it stated unequivocally that Karmo District Market is a different entity from the incident which happened at the Karmo market, and that the fire incident happened at Karmo market and not Karmo District Market.

The general public is hereby advised to disregard and consider the publication and the picture “a mere misinformation.” In addition, we vow now as always to prioritize adequate security facilities to keep life and properties safe in our market environment.
