PDP chapter in South Africa elects Akpokabayen as chairman

The People’s Democratic Party South African Chapter has elected its new chairman, Hon. Ekos Akpokabayen and other executives to pilot the affairs of the chapter in the next four years.

Akpokabayen emerged chairman after the party’s elective congress held on 13th November at Johannesburg South Africa.

In a statement issued by the PDP South Africa, Publicity Secretary, Comrade Michael Evah, said that the elective congress saw one of the party’s Board of Trustees, Hon. Tunji Omotola contesting for the seat of the Chapters chairman against the incumbent chairman of the People Democratic Party, South African Chapter Hon. Ekos Akpokabayen.

“Hon. Ekos Akpokabayen came out with a landslide victory as the chairman elects of the People’s Democratic Party South Africa Chapter, and the elected vice chairman is Hon. Dr. Emeka Egwu and Hon. Rev. Alex Waniko elected as the chapters Secretary General”, he said.

Evah highlighted some of other newly elected members which include: The newly elected Treasurer, Mrs. Funke Agbola., Deputy Secretary, Mrs. Mercy Alabi, Publicity Secretary, Comrade Michael Evah, Asst. Publicity Secretary, Hon. Doris Nwachukwu, Organising. Secretary, Hon. Jay Eseyoma, among others.

He added that the PDP-SA Chapter elective congress drew delegates from Johannesburg, Pretoria and board of trustee were in attendance, with members of the party around the country in South Africa.

He noted that the Chairperson of the electoral committee; Dr Rita Ozoemena went about her duty with great respect for the PDP constitution and also ensures that the process was free and fair to all.

Evah stressed the PDP South Africa chapter newly elected executive appreciate the delegates and congratulate all those who are elected into office as well, added that that the party would move stronger in handling some notable lingering issues pertaining diaspora voting and most importantly working with the National body to ensure that our great party come back to the hem of leadership affairs in Nigeria come 2023.
