The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) House of Representatives Candidate for Ogun Waterside, Ijeb-East, and Ijebu-North Federal Constituency, Hon. Adeyemi Harrison, has accused Judges of State and Federal High Court of allegedly working with Senator Buruji Kashamu, to destabilise PDP ahead of 2019 general election.
Harrison slammed these Judges for allegedly showing bias and partisanship in the ongoing legal tussle over the soul of PDP in the state, noted that it would be recalled that both state and Federal High Court, had once before Thursday 7, 2019 issued an illegal order restraining Hon. Ladi Adebutu from parading himself as the governorship candidate in the state, pending the determination of the case brought against him by aggrieved party members.
Harrison, while reacting in a chat with newsmen in Abeokuta, frowned at the conduct of these Judges, which he described, posed a big danger to the nation’s democracy, questioning the interest of these Judges in the case, despite the Appeal Court ruling in Ibadan that vacated the frivolous court order that restrain both Local, state and federal organs in the state of the High Court in recognising Buruji Kashamu as the governorship candidate of the state.
He vowed that no amount of conspiracy and sabotage from opposition elements would deter PDP authentic exco in the state from enthroning desired change in the state come March 2019, as the party assured victory at both Appeal and Supreme Court, if not from the High courts in the state.
According to Harrison, “We really frown at the conduct those Justices, who has constituted themselves to party Congress Committee, constituted themselves into the National Working Committee of the party, constituted themselves into a court and constituted themselves even into an executive that trying to establish independent political party in the state.”
“And our question is, what is their interest? And we want to tell them that whatever be the consequences, they will be responsible. We will not be intimidated by the use of the Judiciary. The Judiciary is to make peace, tranquillity and bring Justice, not to be given frivolous judgment and backing one candidate or the others in its decisions.”
“The Judiciary is not used to intimidate, frustrate and undermine people’s or party’s efforts/interests. And Ogun state PDP will not be intimidated by anyone, be by those Judges or Kashamu. Because we believe in the rule of law, we believe in democracy too, so the court can not hijack the structures of the PDP in the state.”
“I stand to say that today, those Justices has displayed total bias and conspiracy. The leadership of Ogun PDP under the leadership of Sikirullahi Ogundele will take every measures to bring Justice, peace and stability to the party in the state.”
He added that “Those Justices are being manipulated. Were being used as a mercenary towards undermining the prospect of the party in the state come March, 2019, and PDP Ogun State will say no to it, because no amount of conspiracy, sabotage will discourage the party from achieving that purpose.”
He said that the extant laws regulating the conduct of elections stipulated that only the National Chairman and Secretary of a political party validly could forward names of candidates, who have purchased nomination forms, screened and gone through the primary election to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), for flag-bearer of such party.
He alleged that since 2010, it has been observed that Buruji Kashamu has been using frivolous judgement from Federal High Court judges to destabilise Ogun PDP, and to undermine the credibility of the party and it’s genuine candidates, noted that the PDP Congress in the state had been conducted two months before Kashamu went to court for an interlocutory injunction, seeking restraining the party from conducting the state Congress.
He emphasized that Sen. Buruji Kashamu did not purchase any form from anywhere in the party’s secretariat, so, he sees no reason why INEC would be recognising Kashamu as the party’s governorship candidate, noted that both the Appeal and Supreme Court judgement would also supersede any High courts judgement in the country.
