PDP stage protest, berates Imota monarch over partisanship, complicity

PDP

Members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Imota area of Ikorodu local government of Lagos State, pique by the complicit stance of the monarch Oba Mudashiru Agoro, had staged a protest against the traditional ruler’s alleged engagement of oro cult to place curse on any member of the community that refused voting for the All Progressives Congress APC in the Saturday March 18th gubernatorial and house of Assembly election.

Oba Agoro, the Ranodu of Imota was said to have perpetrated the act last Friday ahead of the election which was eventually postponed.

The protest which was led by the PDP House of Assembly candidate for Ikorodu constituency 1 Prince Adewale Oyebo, faulted the monarch’s partisan mien adding that this is contrary to widely held belief that the king ought to be father to everybody in the community.

In a form of rally and protest around the entire area to perform a seemingly spiritual cleansing of the land, the protesters were seen wielding placards with various boldly written inscriptions revoking the curses while also campaigning for their party.
The placard reads “Election is not war”, “Stop cursing residents voting for other parties”, Why will Imota Oba engage oro cult to place a curse on his own people for voting PDP” amongst others.

Assessing the protest Oyebo commended the party faithful for acting quite on time: “it was a good protest and rally, in this our community,Imota,Igbogbo,Ijede and Ibeshe.
“The king ought not to be engaged in partisan politics, but in these communities mentioned the kings are intimidating the electorate, the Ranodu of Imota even went to the extent of engaging members of oro cult, to place curse on anybody that did not vote for the APC candidates in the forthcoming election.

“We are out to assure the electorate that the curse won’t have effect on them, and they should vote the PDP enmass and that the curse would boomerang and be the portion of those who placed the curse.

“The monarch was only interested in his personal gains, but not interested in the welfare of the masses.” He said.

Speaking on behalf of members of the PDP Senior Apostle Modupe Ogunkoya urged members of the community to resist any threat to their lives or any attempt to disenfranchise them, rather they should put the ruling party to shame by voting the PDP enmasse.
Apostle Ogunkoya therefore calls for caution in any political discuss.

He also appealed to members of the two major political parties in the community, the APC and the PDP not to encourage anything that will set members of the two parties against one another, adding that the consequence will be grave in the community.

“Why should the monarch engage service of oro cult members to place curse on whoever vote the PDP. I therefore appeal to members of the APC,not to allow the monarch set us against each other, a monarch is expected not to be partisan.” He said.

He said rather than the monarch promoting peace and love in his community, he is sowing seed of discord, which he said is not good for the community.
