…says flouted party’s constitutional provision

The Ward M1 of Alimosho LGA chapter of the Peoples democratic Party has officially dissociated itself of any involvement in the purported suspension of one of its prominent members, a former State Chairman of the party Deacon Segun Adewale, describing the development as unconstitutional and a clear subversion of a functional system.

In a statement signed by the Chairman of Ward M1 Mr. Kenneth Nwaeze on Friday after a thorough deliberation by the party executive at the ward level in question, disclosed that the party executive at the local government level ran contrary, by usurping its role and going ahead to spuriously attribute the unconstitutional act of suspension to have been ratified by Ward M1.

According to Nwaeze, Deacon Adewale fondly called Aeroland remain a staunch pillar of support for the party and especially at the ward M1 in Alimosho LGA, he has performed so well as a grassroots mobilizer who did exceptionally well as the party’s candidate for the Lagos West senatorial district at the 2023 election with an unprecedented winning vote margin.

Adding that they ward exco were not a part of an alleged shenanigan to suspend him and were not privy to any disciplinary committee summon which led to the frivolous suspension of Adewale.

“It has become a matter of necessity to address the public and the entire PDP leaders and members from the national level to the ward level on the shenanigans going on amongst certain elements within our party as it relates to ward M1, Alimosho LGA in Lagos State and the purported suspension of our member and major financier, Otunba SEGUN Adewale.

“The ward executive of Ward M1, Alimosho LGA Lagos state after today’s ward executive meeting have resolved to clear the air on the issues raised by the state Secretary in their alleged communique inter Alia;

“We are please to inform the general public and PDP stakeholders nationwide that the ward M1 executive dissociate Itself from the purported suspension of Otunba Segun Adewale Aeroland from our party.

“We have not for once have any reason whatsoever to set up a disciplinary committee against Otunba Segun Adewale Aeroland whom we hold in high esteem and had recently passed a vote of confidence in him as a law abiding, loyal, committed and major financier of our great party at the ward, LGA and state level.”

The PDP executive in Ward M1 in Alimosho make bold to state that the state secretary Hon Soji Orioye was misinformed on the suspension plot, as it clearly did not follow the party’s constitutional provision which confers the power on the Ward to so do if need be and not the LGA.

“It also came to us as a rude surprise the ill-fated ratification of an unknown suspension in which the state secretary Hon Soji Orioye said emanated from us.

“We are bold to inform the party leadership nationwide that we didn’t carry out any disciplinary procedure against Otunba Segun Adewale and were not consulted either by the LGA or state before any disciplinary action was unconstitutionally taken.

“As such, we call on the state secretaty to kindly remove the part where he erroneously stated that the suspension of Distinguished Segun Adewale Aeroland was carried out by the ward.

“This is a malicious fabrication capable of instigating disunity amongst peace loving and long-suffering members of our ward who have sacrificed for the party in the past. This is an act of incrimination on our part.

“While we continue to show maximum respect for the higher level of our great party, we had expected that for the state to ratify an ill-fated suspension of a prominent financier of the party in the state, the state executive or perhaps the state Secretary or legal adviser would exercise a due diligence and constitute a fact-finding committee to get to the root of the matter at the ward level before taking any drastic actions.

“However, we want to believe that the state executive must have been misinformed that the suspension was carried out by the ward as evident in the ratification letter as a base of the supposed suspension/ratification.

“We also wish to state clearly that the LGA can not usurp or override the legitimate and constitutional authorities and procedures vested in the ward executive by our party Constitution.

“The purported suspension of Aeroland by the LGA was carried out in bad fate and in total disregard to the Constitution of our party which empowers the ward executive to carry out the suspension of a member of our party.

“The disciplinary procedures against erring members as clearly stated in our party Constitution section (57) 1 to 7 is unambiguous.

“The body of the purported suspension letter written by the LGA executive and the procedure was not in anyway in conformity with the party Constitution as stated above.”
