The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential flag bearer Alhaji Atiku Abubakar has given his resolve to maximally support members of his party in Lagos State to ensure that the party produce the next governor of the state.
Atiku said this while addressing members of the party at the Balmoral hall Federal Palace Hotel, Victoria Island.Lagos.An event which was attended by the party chairman Hon.Phillip Aivoji,former chairmen of the party in the state, Alhaji Muritala Ashorobi, Engineer Deji Doherty.
Also in Atiku entourage were former governor of Niger State Alhaji Babangida Aliyu, Chief Raymond Dokpesi and Senator Dino Melaye.
The PDP candidate said he was in Lagos to assess the strength of membership of the party in the state, and he was impressed by what he saw.
“Lagos is so much blessed,PDP is going to win Lagos,I believe you are going to win the governorship seat this time around, therefore we are going to support you to any level, when I say I will do something, I will make sure I do it.”He said.
Atiku therefore, urged members of the party in Lagos State to work harder at winning all the elections in the 2023 general elections, “therefore you need to work harder, with the support we will give you, we will win Lagos.
“I came to see for myself that PDP is on ground in Lagos, and Olajide Adediran(Jandor) will be the next governor of Lagos State. You will see what we are going to do when the campaign start.”
Earlier in his welcome address the PDP governorship candidate in the state, Adediran said the people of Lagos are prepared to work for the success of Atiku in the 2023 presidential election, and that was why they patiently waited for him since morning to hear from him,just he assured him that members of the party in the state will work for his success in 2023 general elections.
Earlier in the day,Alhaji Atiku was the guest at Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI), Victoria Island, where he unveiled his plan on how to improve the economy if he is elected President of Nigeria,he noted that Nigeria economy cannot be improved unless it is reformed,and more support is given to the private sector.
“We cannot overcome our economic challenges without significant reforms to re structure the economy and to support the private sector to unleash it’s growth potential, and play a key role in the economy. A strong, productive, and pro-growth private sector is needed to create wealth, generate employment opportunities, and help fight poverty.” He said.
Atiku also added that if he is elected the President of Nigeria his administration will take tough and difficult decisions on security matters without fear or favour, because investors are being scared by conflicts and insecurity.
He added that there are some fundamental issues to be taken on the way the country is being governed, adding that that can be achieved through dialogue, just as he said that there is the need for proper assessment of those who are responsible for stealing Nigeria oil and find a lasting solution to it.

Earlier, chieftains and members of the main opposition PDP trooped out en mass to receive Abubakar at the Muritala Mohammed Airport 2 as early as 7.00a.m.
Abubakar was at the Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) 2022 edition of Private Sector Economic Forum for the 2023 presidential election, and later met with members of the Nigerian Guild of Editors (NGE) in Ikoyi, Lagos on the 2023 general elections.
